Upper School Exams
Beginning in the 8th grade, students take comprehensive exams in the major subjects. They will be tested on the material learned during the entire preceding semester. Exams are administered twice a year – Mid-terms (January) and Finals (June) - using the following guidelines.
- How often? Twice per year - one each semester
- Who has exams? Grades 8 through 12.
- Material included: Exams are comprehensive for the semester. That is, they will include all material covered during the semester.
- Subjects included: Math, Science, English, History, Foreign Language, and Civics (11th Grade only)
- Subjects NOT included: Logic, Rhetoric, Bible (Old Testament and New Testament Survey, Apologetics, Christian World View), Computer, Art, or Music.
- Humanities: In grades 9 through 12, the Humanities exams are given in 2 parts – English and History
- Foreign Language: If an oral portion is required, it is given during the week prior to the exams. The written portion is given during exam week.

Please note: percent of semester grade is at teacher discretion.
