At RCCS, we work diligently to provide our students with the latest technological resources along with the skills to use them. It is our passion to prepare our students to succeed in this modern age.

The RCCS Technology Committee provides strategic planning, oversight and maintenance of the technology at RCCS. Our mission is to provide the faculty, staff and students with all the technology they need to effectively teach, learn and perform their administrative tasks in the most efficient manner possible.

• For students, this means having access to a wide array of learning resources within the computer lab and school library where they can be taught the fundamentals of modern computing, common software programs, and the proper method of doing research using the Internet.
• For faculty, this means having powerful educational resources at their disposal to provide the best quality education possible for their students, including the software systems to generate and plan stimulating curricula, along with the training and equipment to utilize them effectively.
• For staff, this means having the data processing technology they need to efficiently and cost effectively administer all the information generated in the course of running a pre-K through 12 private school.

To accomplish this goal, the following recent actions have been taken or are planned:

2007-2008 Technology Upgrade

During the 2006-7 school year, the RCCS Board decided to use funds received from the school’s annual fund drive to upgrade the network. As a result, in the following year (2007-8), approximately $73,000 of the annual fund receipts was used to upgrade the technology. These funds provided for new hardware and software including:

·         63 desktop units

·         2 network servers

·         65 licenses for Microsoft Office Small business 2007

·         65 licenses for OLP Exchange Server (E-mail)

This upgraded has greatly improved the operational capabilities of our network. It has also brought more power to the teachers and allowed them to improve the learning experience for the students. And, it has greatly reduced the maintenance and troubles experienced with the older equipment. However, there is still room for improvement.

2008-2009 Technology Plans

In order to further enhance the learning experiences for our students, RCCS desires to equip each of its classrooms with Smart Boards or their equivalent. An enhancement such as this would allow teachers to write on the boards and save the notes or diagrams to a computer for sharing with the students, electronically or through printouts.

In addition to this enhancement, we would like to complete the technology upgrade begun in 2007-8 by replacing the remaining Staff PC monitors with flat screen monitors. This upgrade is needed in order to provide more working space for the teachers and staff.
